Valorisation and layout of the Canal Exutoire in Dunkirk
Release our emotions and energy and let off steam refer to the act of freeing oneself, from pain or from simple everyday life. It is a way to express ourselves, to give out something (an emotion or energy) we need to let go of.
In Dunkirk, the Urban Planning Agency is working on the valorisation of the canals. For my diploma, I have chosen to work on the layout of the Canal Exutoire’s banks. The Canal Exutoire is a functional structure which drain the water of the territory and releases it toward the sea. I would like this
canal to become an urban space where we could release our emotions and let off steam.
Playful and sports machines are invented according to a spatial score in crescendo. They are actionnated by human force and play with the site and its natural elements. They also give visibility to the mecanic dimension of this big hydraulic system. Now the canal releases emotions as much as the water toward the sea.
